Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu) Microneedling Hair Restoration
What Is Copper Peptide Microneedling?
Newly introduced at Eva Clinic, copper peptide microneedling reflects our commitment to bringing genuinely innovative, evidence-informed treatments to Bath.
Copper peptide (GHK-Cu) microneedling is a regenerative scalp treatment that combines controlled microneedling with the topical application of copper peptide serum, aimed at supporting thinning hair and improving overall scalp health. GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper-binding peptide that declines with age — a drop that’s been linked to slower hair follicle cycling and reduced scalp repair. Microneedling creates temporary micro-channels in the scalp that significantly improve the peptide’s absorption, allowing it to reach the follicle environment far more effectively than topical application alone.
How GHK-Cu Supports Hair Growth
GHK-Cu works through several mechanisms relevant to hair health: it helps calm the low-grade inflammation around hair follicles that can contribute to thinning, supports blood vessel formation around follicles to improve their nutrient supply, and acts as a cofactor for antioxidant enzymes that help protect follicle stem cells from damage. Unlike treatments that work by blocking hormones, GHK-Cu supports the scalp environment those follicles are trying to grow in — which is part of why it’s increasingly used alongside, rather than instead of, more established treatments.
The Treatment: Microneedling + Topical Copper Peptide
Treatment begins with controlled microneedling across the scalp, creating microscopic channels that dramatically increase how well topically applied ingredients are absorbed — research shows permeation through microneedled skin can be up to ten times higher than through intact skin. Immediately afterwards, a carefully concentrated copper peptide serum is applied, taking advantage of these open channels for far deeper, more effective delivery than a serum used alone at home ever could achieve. Sessions are typically carried out monthly as part of a course.
What to Expect
Microneedling involves a mild scratching or vibrating sensation depending on the device used, and is generally well tolerated; numbing cream can be used for sensitive clients. There’s minimal downtime — some redness for a few hours is normal, similar to other microneedling treatments. Because hair follicles cycle over 8–12 week periods, meaningful visible change takes time; most treatment courses are assessed over a minimum of three to five monthly sessions.
Who Is It Suitable For?
This treatment is best suited to clients experiencing early-stage thinning or looking to support overall scalp and hair health, either on its own or alongside other treatments such as Fotona HAIRestart. It is not a substitute for prescription hair loss treatment where hormonal (androgenic) hair loss is the primary driver, and a consultation will help determine whether copper peptide microneedling alone, or in combination with other approaches, best suits your specific pattern of hair loss.
Treatment Details
The evidence is genuinely promising but still early. The strongest published study combined this exact delivery method (microneedling plus topical copper peptides) with topical minoxidil and prescription dutasteride, so it’s most honestly positioned as a supportive, complementary treatment rather than a stand-alone proven cure on its own.
Microneedling involves a mild sensation that most clients tolerate well; numbing cream is available for more sensitive clients.
Because hair follicles cycle over 8–12 weeks, a minimum of three to five monthly sessions is generally needed before assessing results.
No – current evidence suggests copper peptide works best as a complement to established treatments rather than a replacement, particularly where hormonal (androgenic) hair loss is the primary driver.
Yes – copper peptide microneedling is often used alongside Fotona HAIRestart as part of a broader hair health plan, discussed and tailored at consultation.
