What Is Fotona 5D?

Fotona 5D builds on the proven Fotona 4D non-surgical facelift by adding a fifth dimension of treatment: the HoneyComb™ Lift protocol, delivered through Fotona’s advanced robotic T-Runner® scanner. Where Fotona 4D uses four laser modes to lift, tighten and rejuvenate, Fotona 5D adds a further, more precisely automated tightening step — giving an even more consistent, optimised lifting effect for the face and neck.

The T-Runner® Robotic Scanner

The T-Runner is a robotic laser scanner that automates the delivery of laser energy in a precise, uniform pattern across the treatment area. Unlike manual application, which can vary slightly from pass to pass, the T-Runner delivers heat rapidly, evenly and with a built-in temperature sensor that monitors both the energy delivered and the temperature reached — improving both safety and consistency of results, while also making the treatment more comfortable.

HoneyComb™ Technology — Inspired by Nature

Fotona’s HoneyComb™ optics take their inspiration from nature’s own most efficient structural design — the hexagonal pattern bees use to build honeycomb. Rather than heating the skin in a uniform sweep, HoneyComb™ delivers the Fotona SMOOTH® laser pulse in a hexagonal beam pattern, creating tiny, intense micro-zones of heat separated by untouched skin. This allows the skin between treatment points to cool quickly, making the treatment considerably more comfortable, while still triggering a strong heat-shock response that drives skin regeneration and tightening.

How HoneyComb™ Lift Works

The HoneyComb™ Lift protocol combines Fotona’s SMOOTH® laser modality with the T-Runner scanner and the HoneyComb (HC6) optics assembly. The hexagonal micro-zone pattern allows higher treatment fluences to be used safely and comfortably compared with a uniform beam, triggering intense but localised heat-shock protein production. This stimulates the skin’s own regeneration and remodelling processes, resulting in a firmer, tighter appearance to the face and neck with continued improvement over a course of sessions.

What to Expect

Sessions feel like short, intense bursts of heat rather than a continuous sensation, thanks to the honeycomb delivery pattern. Numbing cream can be applied for particularly sensitive clients, though many don’t find it necessary. A typical course involves three to five sessions, usually spaced around a month apart, with skin appearing progressively tighter and better quality over the following weeks. Maintenance sessions are often recommended every four to six months depending on age and goals.
